Avocado

We are in the middle of the Peru season. This is from late April until early September. The Peruvian Hass avocado is a bit lighter in color this year after ripening. Not dark brown, but still dark green to brown. South Africa usually runs at the same time as Peru, but has been delayed. First due to labour strikes in the harbour, now due to cool and rainy weather. Most of the production still has to be shipped. More arrivals are expected in August. Chile will begin in mid September, earlier than in other years, but has approximately 30% less production than last year. Highest production ever from Chile was in 2009/2010.
