Niños del Arco Center

In 2001 the Niños del Arco Iris foundation in Urubamba was founded in the Sacred Valley nearby Cusco. The center was build to provide a place where underprivileged children from the surrounding poor communities can live and learn.

A future for the forgotten children of Peru
The center provides a home and a future for children who are exposed to the many risks of extreme poverty. The name Arco iris refers in both Spanish and Quetchua to "rainbow". Quetchua is the native language of the Indians and is still spoken in the Andes.

Heléna van Engelen – founder of Niños del Arco

Helena (1949) gave her life a meaning by completely dedicating herself to the forgotten children of Peru. She went looking for the perfect place to realize her dream in Cusco (Peru). In the end she purchased a plot of about three hectares situated on a mountainside in the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. On this almost heavenly place, Heléna began developing her project where children can live, learn and develop themselves.

The Kuychi Foundation
The Kuychi foundation aims to raise, administer and provide money for the Niños del Arco in centre in Urumbamba. To achieve this they recruit donors and organize promotional activities to get people acquainted with the project that provides the underprivileged children of Peru a better future.

All activities are organized and executed by volunteers which work free of charge. Kuychi Foundation is proud of the fact that no overhead costs are made. For example, all expenses made by traveling are paid by the board members and volunteers themselves. Therefore, the children will benefit the most of all gifts and can instantly work on a better future.
