Fair For Life - Fair Trade

Fair For Life - Fair Trade

Nature’s Pride strives to do business in a fair way, whereby we take responsibility for the impact that our activities have on society and environment. Now it is time for the next step: Nature’s Pride goes Fair Trade.

Fair price and additional social premium

With the certificate ‘Fair for Life – Fair Trade’ the mangoes are grown and traded in a fair and safe way. It guarantees good working conditions for employees at packhouses and in the fields; so that they work under safe and hygienic conditions, with a labour contract, earning a sustainable salary, payment of social benefits, no child labour, etc.

The independent non-profit certifier IMO (Institute for Market Ecology) in Switzerland  certified us and our growers.

Together with our growers we agree on a Fair Trade price for their product. The price must cover all costs to produce, plus a fair profit. On top of this there is a Fair Trade Premium being collected which will be invested into local social development projects from which local workers benefit directly, examples are schooling, boreholes, etc.

We have chosen to certify all our mangoes ‘Fair for Life – Fair Trade’. Thanks to the big volume that we sell yearround, the total premium for the social projects is very large.

Our mangoes are ‘Fair For Life - Fair Trade’ but many product shall follow!

Arrival 1st container 'Fair Trade' mangos

On January 23rd, the 1st container was unloaded at the premises of Nature’s Pride in Maasdijk, with Fair Trade mangos from Peru. The mangos will be used for the ripening program and will be sold in the regular sales channels. The mangos are perfectly orange inside and at the perfect maturity stage. This means great eating quality after ripening. The mangos can be recognized by their black&white ‘Fair for Life – Fair Trade’ sticker.
