Ready to Eat

Ready to Eat

The convenience of fruit that can be consumed directly after purchase. Easily said, less easily done. We have a unique expertise in ripening exotic fruits for our Ready to Eat programs. Only the most tasteful varieties are selected and the growing and harvesting process is controlled by our experts. Quality from the tree to the consumer so to say.

The “Ready to Eat” program

Just a few years ago we started ripening exotic fruits to provide our customers the finest fruit available on the market. We have become leading in the market of Ready-to-Eat mangos, avocados and papayas with the knowledge that we have gathered over the past few years.

More taste thanks to late harvest

Only the best fruits are used for our “Ready to Eat” program. Our products have been specially selected on maturity, colour and taste. On average our mangos and papayas are picked 2 weeks later than the average mango or papaya on the market. This gives us much higher sugar levels and a greater eating experience after ripening. Our avocado growers must wait to pick for Nature's Pride until the oil in the fruit is at a good eating level. The oil gives the avocado it's creaminess and taste. The riper (more sugar or more oil) the mangos, papayas and avocados have, the happier that they are! They like to ripen better, have a longer shelf life and have much more taste.

In close cooperation with our growers

Our growers understand our concept and have to live up to another quality and ripeness standard before they can take part in our ripening programs. It is not easy to be able to reach that standard and the quality begins by the grower with higher sugar/brix levels in papayas and mangos and higher oil levels in avocados.

“Ready to Eat” quality

The continuous focus to optimize our ‘Ready-to-Eat’ program is one of the reasons that more and more customers decide to choose Nature’s Pride as their partner to supply these ripened exotics on a daily basis.  The constant time and energy that our ripening managers spend each and every day makes a huge difference in our quality and maturity.  Each country of origin and each grower seems to ripen differently and this means that we have to constantly keep our eyes and hands in the ripening rooms. We are constantly cutting fruit to find the exact time to stop the process and pack and load for our customers. It is not an easy task. These secrets help us to guarantee a much better product with longer shelf life and fantastic eating quality.

Optimizing “Ready to Eat”

We’ve just invested in a high tech mango sorter that gives us much more information on the ripeness, sugar/brix levels, and internal breakdown of mangos. We believe this will give us the most advanced and accurate sorting machine in the world in regards to specs on mango.  This will further increase the high quality standard after a development process of approximately 6 months.

We are extending our Ready-to-Eat product range with nectarines and pears.  All 5 products are available in various sizes, loose or pre-packed, stickered or labeled per piece.

“Eat me, Ripe” Label

The Nature’s label on the Ready-to-Eat products has become a seal of confidence for consumers around Europe. With a broadening of the assortment Nature’s Pride will develop into a household name for trustworthy, tasty and convenient fresh products.
