Our focus on WASH

Together with our partners we strive to improve conditions for everybody in our value chain. WASH refers to Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. In cooperation with several partners, among which 2 of our growers, we work on further improving the well-being of people working in our value chain with WASH.

We have been committed to responsible water management throughout our value chain for years. From our growers to our customers. Much of this work focuses on the productive use of water in agriculture. But water is not just about productivity, it is a human right. That is why access to water, sanitation and hygiene (known as WASH) is a priority in our Care For People and Nature Strategy 2024-2028. In doing so, we look at where we can improve the working and living conditions of our growers. To do this, we have started projects in cooperation with the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) and two of our growers. These growers have already taken steps to incorporate WASH into their operations and together we will continue with the next phase. We will use the insights from this project to further shape our WASH strategy for the whole value chain.
