As COVID19 continues to impact Peru, the Nature’s Pride Foundation reached out to its dedicated growers to improve access to water in vulnerable communities. Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, also known as WASH, is essential to contain the spread of COVID19.
So far, two projects have been approved: one is in the high Andes of the Caraz area, where a farming community of 560 small holder farmers supplies us with peas through our grower FairFruit. The project will make sanitary facilities operational at the community school and improve sanitary facilities in the fields. The community member will also receive training and hygienic kits.
The other project is in the South, near Ica. Here our asparagus supplier ProAgro, together with local NGO Horizonte Corporativo and the Nature’s Pride Foundation will improve access to water at a primary school of 780 students. The project is accompanied with workshop to raise awareness about hygiene and environment, and program for recycling. Teachers, parents and the school director are actively involved.
Together, we can improve hygiene and contain COVID19 as much as possible.
