Carnation

Popular cut flower with a spicy flavour

Carnation - Product photo

The classic carnation is not only a success in a vase in the living room, but also in the pan in the kitchen. The petals are edible, for example, the pink, purple and white varieties that you will find in Nature's Pride's range. What does a carnation taste like? A little spicy: there is a hint of clove and nutmeg to its taste. It has also been described as 'piquant' and 'sweet'.

In other words, carnations are so much more than just an embellishment of the interior. The dianthus, its Latin name, is one of the most popular cut flowers. The flower was already used for decoration in Roman times.

Recipes & preparation tips

Remember that only the petals are edible. To keep the flower's shape in a drink or dish, it is better not to wash it. Carnation petals taste delicious in salads and are a colourful addition to rice dishes. The edible carnation is also a success as a decoration for pasta dishes.
