5-year anniversary of Groente & Fruitbrigade

Groente & Fruitbrigade celebrated its 5-year anniversary on Thursday 22 June. In five years, the Groente & Fruitbrigade has grown to become the largest grocery shop for Food banks Netherlands. A sustainable initiative that manages to collect more fruit and vegetables every year. Nature's Pride and the Nature's Pride Foundation are proud to be part of this as supplier and donor.

During the anniversary celebration, the chairman, Willem van Prooijen, said goodbye and was introduced to the new chairman, Gert Mulder. With his arrival, the brigade opts to strengthen relations with the fruit and vegetable sector, so that the supply and diversity of fruit and vegetables can be even more optimally matched to needs.

Supplying fruit and vegetables to the Groente & Fruitbrigade is important for the health of people in a vulnerable life situation who have to rely on the Food bank. An initiative that fits perfectly with Nature's Pride's vision to work together to enable everyone to enjoy healthy food, today and tomorrow. Thus, products that do not meet our quality standards but are still perfect for consumption are not lost but are donated to the food bank, among others.

In addition, the Nature's Pride Foundation made a donation to the Groente & Fruitbrigade in 2020 to purchase a truck so that more fruit can be collected and distributed to families. This year, the Nature's Pride Foundation made another donation to enable refrigerated transport. This way, longer distances can be driven and the produce stays fresh even during the hot summers. This way, we contribute to healthy food for people who cannot count on it as a matter of course.
