At the growers

In the first place, we ask all our growers for Global GAP certification to ensure that they follow the globally accepted Good Agricultural Practices. But we go further. Within the Sustainable Business department, Nature's Pride has an expert who actively guides our growers to continuously improve on cultivating crops. He works with them on more biological crop protection and cultivation methods and focuses on a healthy soil with the right balance of minerals. This makes the vegetables and fruit stronger and they contain more nutritional values. A healthy soil is better for the environment and leads to more and tastier fruit. This is how Doing Good Business and the protection of the environment come together. Finally, we also pay attention to the environment in the social projects that we implement together with our growers. For example, we support projects at schools in Peru where children have their own vegetable gardens and learn all about recycling, composting and respect for the environment.

During transport and in our building
In order to limit the burden on the environment during transport, we arrange the containers as optimally as possible and transport our products as much as possible by boat. Currently we import two thirds of the total volume per boat. We are also working on increasing the sustainability of packaging and the valorisation of our residual flows, where for example avocado is converted into guacamole and rejected fruit in biogas.

Finally, we also look at the impact of our own business premises on the environment. Nature's Pride's company building has the BREEAM excellent certificate and is one of the most sustainable company buildings in Western Europe. It has solar panels, rainwater is reused in the toilets and sustainable materials contribute to the efficiency of cooling.
