Growing & Harvesting

Selection of the seeds is the first step in the cultivation process.
The seed variety chosen is highly dependent on the region in
which it will be planted. The local growers know exactly which
seed variety grows best in their region, and which produces the
highest-quality vegetables. The land is then ploughed with
tractors and the seeds are planted around 7 to 10 cm apart.
The haricots verts can be harvested 45 to 60 days after sowing.
The beans are harvested manually in the cool morning hours.
The haricots verts undergo their initial quality inspection right
there in the field. The buckets full of haricots verts are
assembled in the shade, and the beans with damage to their
skins are removed. The good-quality haricots verts are put in a crate and transported to the warehouse on a refrigerated truck. On arrival at the warehouse, each haricot vert is once again checked for quality. The haricots verts are then packed and transported to the Netherlands.
