Beginning of a new avocado season
A new avocado season is about to begin. Over the next five months, our avocados will primarily come from Peru. The country’s vast landscapes and diverse climate offer the ideal conditions for a long and stable season. We start harvesting in the north and gradually move south, allowing us to make the most of the season and meet the market’s steady demand. Learn more about how we grow, transport and handle our avocados so we can deliver the highest quality tasty avocados year-round, produced with care for people and nature.
Our avocados are handled with great care by our growers. Together with our growers, we set the highest quality standards for all our fruits and vegetables. We are very involved in the growing process. Quality and taste are always leading The avocados are harvested once the dry mass has reached its optimal level. This ensures the fruit develops a rich, nutty flavor. The shape and color are landmarks for the grower to begin harvesting.
Not every avocado is ripe at the same time. To find out if an avocado is ripe, growers pick the fruit by hand several times. Once avocados are ripe for harvesting, they are picked and immediately cooled back in the packing house, to a temperature of 12˚C. The fruits are then washed, sorted by quality and size and packaged. That is the time to get them ready for shipping to Nature's Pride.
After cultivation, we keep a close eye on the quality of our products. At our location in Maasdijk, we constantly perform quality checks on the product. Our long-standing expertise in ripening avocados allows us to always bring our customers perfectly edible fruit. We are pioneer of the ripening process, which makes that we understand how the product develops and guarantee that our fruit is at the right level of ripeness, at the right time.
All our products are produced with care for people and nature. 100% of our avocados are socially certified. Furthermore, we work with our growers on reduction of CO2-emissions in the field, responsible water use, implementing WASH and on protecting and recovering biodiversity.
